TBS 2006 Work Project and Annual Membership Meeting

March 24th and 25th, 2006 in Van Horn, Texas

On Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th, TBS will be at it again building two guzzlers in the spectacular mountains of the Sierra Diablo Wildlife Management Area north of Van Horn, Texas and we need your help! This is just about the only way you can visit this magnificent area that is home to some of Texas best bighorn habitat and one of our strongest herds, as it is landlocked and accessible to the general public only with TP&W escort. Saturday evening Pam and Jerrell Coburn of Coburn's Catering will be feeding us in the Van Horn Convention Center, and we will also be holding a membership meeting and taking care of a little business as we elect directors for the next year.

This weekend is hard work, but also very important and a great deal of fun. It is also a great opportunity to meet the folks of TP&W who work with the bighorns every day, and see some of the most beautiful country in Texas in the process!

We will be staying in Van Horn (map) , and you can make your reservations at our host hotel, the Best Western by clicking here. If you will mention the Texas Bighorn Society when you make your reservations, you can get a special rate of $50.00 for a double, and $45.00 for a single room through March 9th, after that it goes up to $59.00 and $50.00 respectively. The phone number to the hotel is 1-800-367-7589.  At the break of dawn (or 7:00AM, whichever comes first!) we will meet in the Best Western parking lot and caravan out to the work site. It is important that we all go in together as the access is through locked gates on private property. This will be a long trip on some pretty rough dirt roads, and good tires and road clearance is recommended.  The Coburn's will be feeding us lunch both days at the worksite, and dinner on Saturday. A little cold beer to ease the aches and pains of the days work will also be provided in the evening.

Please RSVP with Pam Coburn at 817-336-0401, or by e-mail at pcoburn@flash.net so we can make sure you name is in the pot. If you have any questions please contact Theresa or David Wetzel at information@texasbighornsociety.org.
