Donate – Memorial Fund for the Benefit of TPWD Families

I write this with a heavy heart. As you know, we lost three members of our wildlife conservation family last weekend. A helicopter crash claimed the lives of Texas State Wildlife Veterinarian Dr. Bob Dittmar, Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologist Dewey Stockbridge and Texas Parks and Wildlife Technician Brandon White during the annual Desert Bighorn sheep survey. All three were survived by spouses and children.

The Texas Bighorn Society has been inundated with calls, emails, and texts from everyone inquiring as to how they can help or where they can donate. TBS is setting up a Memorial Fund for the families of our three fallen partners. Donations can be mailed to the TBS office at 1615 West Loop 289, Lubbock, TX 79416 or by calling 806-745-7783. You can also use the link above to donate online. This is not a TBS fund, as we are merely the central donation site. Once all the donations are collected, the entirety of the fund will be distributed equally to the three surviving families. As TBS is a 501(c)3 organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for all for the outpouring of concerns, condolences and caring. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Establishment of TBS Memorial Fund for the benefit of TPWD families

The following motion was adopted by the Texas Bighorn Society Board of Directors.

To create a Texas Bighorn Society (“TBS”) Project entitled “TBS Memorial Fund for the benefit of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Families”  (“TBS Memorial Fund”) after the tragic helicopter accident on August 8, 2020, which took the lives of three Texas Parks and Wildlife employees who were integral to the TBS mission statement “to restore desert bighorn sheep to all of their native ranges in Texas, and to insure the viability of their habitat”.

Rules pertaining to the TBS Memorial Fund Project:

The TBS Memorial Fund will have an effective date of August 11, 2020 and will end on December 31, 2020.

Funds raised by the Project will be distributed equally to the surviving spouses of the deceased employees at the end of each month beginning on August 31, 2020 and ending on December 31, 2020.  The TBS Memorial Fund will be closed at that time.
